Overview
The Hungarian Parliament Building (Országház) is the largest building in Hungary and one of the great river-front landmarks of Europe — a neo-Gothic palace of 691 rooms completed in 1902, crowned by a 96-metre central dome that holds the Holy Crown of Hungary. It stands right on the Danube on Kossuth Lajos tér, and the M2 (red) metro station opens directly onto the square in front of it. The Museum of Ethnography and the memorials of the square are only a few steps away, and the tram along the embankment gives one of the finest city walks in Budapest.
