Kossuth Lajos tér — overview
This is the M2 stop for the Hungarian Parliament: it sits on the Pest bank of the Danube at the southern end of Kossuth Lajos tér, between Batthyány tér and Deák Ferenc tér. It opened on 22 December 1972 with the line's second section, originally under the shorter name Kossuth tér.
Construction came in two bursts – 1950 to 1954, then 1962 to 1972 after a long freeze. Instead of the usual three-tunnel layout, Kossuth Lajos tér was built as a five-tunnel 'Budapest-style' station, like Astoria and Batthyány tér, and the extra vaults are still visible in the ceiling. It was among the first stations refurbished, in 2004.

Nearby attractions and places
Step outside and the neo-Gothic Parliament building is right there, open to visitors on guided tours. Tram 2 runs along the river embankment here, with the Danube and the Buda hills on one side the whole way. Szabadság tér (Liberty Square), with its monuments, is a short walk away, and trolleybuses 70 and 78 start from the square for the inner districts.

It opened on 22 December 1972 with the Deák Ferenc tér–Déli pályaudvar section of M2. Some of the tunnelling had already been done between 1950 and 1954, but work stopped for almost a decade and only resumed in 1962. The station was modernised in 2004.
