Useful tips

  • Validate your ticket at the yellow ticket-validation machines at the metro entrance.
  • If you travel often, the monthly pass (9,500 Ft) usually pays off from 21 trips onwards.
  • The Budapest 72 (5,500 Ft) tourist ticket gives unlimited travel for 72 hours, plus certain museum discounts.
  • Contactless QR-code payment also works with the BudapestGO app — worth installing before you arrive.
  • Inspectors may ask to see your ticket during the journey — always keep it with you.
