How to get to Heroes' Square & City Park by metro
Overview
Heroes' Square is one of Budapest's most monumental squares, with the Millennium Monument and statues of the leading figures of Hungarian history. It is flanked by the Museum of Fine Arts and the Kunsthalle, and behind it lies City Park with Vajdahunyad Castle and the Széchenyi Bath. The metro station opens right beneath the square.

How to get there
Take the M1 (yellow) line to the Hősök tere stop. The exit leads straight up onto the square, so the Millennium Monument is right in front of you — about a 1-minute walk. City Park behind the square and Vajdahunyad Castle are just a few minutes away on foot.
Good to know
💡 The square is open and free to visit at any time. It's a good base for exploring City Park: a short walk brings you to the Széchenyi Bath (one more stop on the M1) and Vajdahunyad Castle. There is little shade on the square in summer, so bring water and sun protection.
