Kelenföld vasútállomás — overview
Line M4 begins its run in Buda right under Kelenföld railway station, one of the city's main rail gateways. The station, planned as Kelenföldi pályaudvar, opened on 28 March 2014 together with the line's first section to Keleti pályaudvar, and the opening ceremony itself was held here. It is also where tunnelling started in spring 2007, with two boring machines working side by side.
The platform lies 16 m below ground and has three exits. Eight escalators and two lifts lead down to it, but counting the long underpass network that links the Etele tér side, Őrmező and the railway platforms, the complex has 27 escalators and 9 lifts. Weathering steel, bare concrete and high ceilings carry the shared look of the M4 stations.

Nearby attractions and places
This is a true interchange: trains leave Kelenföld for Lake Balaton and Vienna, buses fan out from Etele tér and Őrmező, and commuters from the suburbs switch here to the metro for the city centre. If you arrive by train from the west, M4 takes you straight across the Danube to Keleti pályaudvar. On the Etele tér side is the Etele Plaza shopping centre, while the housing estates of Kelenföld spread out towards Bikás park.
