How to get to St Stephen's Basilica by metro
Overview
St Stephen's Basilica is Budapest's largest church, with a 96-metre dome that offers one of the finest panoramas over the city. It houses the Holy Right Hand, the relic of King Stephen's right hand. The basilica stands in Lipótváros in the heart of the city centre, close to several metro lines.

How to get there
The most convenient option is the M1 (yellow) line's Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út stop, about a 3-minute walk from the basilica. As an alternative, the M3 (blue) line's Arany János utca station is a similar distance. You can also walk over from Deák Ferenc tér (the M1–M2–M3 interchange) in about 5–7 minutes.

💡 Entry to the church is free but a donation is requested; the dome lookout and treasury need a separate ticket. The dome can be reached by lift or stairs. The Szent István tér square in front hosts events and terraces in summer and a Christmas market in winter.
